Additionally, the house opens for visitors one hour before the performance starts, allowing enough time for arrival, cloakroom, and a calm start. The cloakroom can be used for a fee of 1 euro. Directions and Parking in Neubrandenburg
When it comes to parking at Schauspielhaus Neubrandenburg, it is worthwhile to look at the city’s information, as the official city website consolidates public parking options in the city center. For short errands, the P15 parking ticket is particularly practical: it allows for a one-time 15-minute stopping time in public parking areas within the city center, excluding resident parking spaces, fire department access, and specially marked restricted areas. Those visiting the Schauspielhaus should best orient themselves to the central location in the city center on Pfaffenstraße and plan their arrival so that a short walk through the old town is also pleasantly possible. This location is an advantage as it allows the theater evening to be combined with a city tour, a café visit, or a stroll through the city center. For practical planning, this means: Inquiries such as parking, directions, or tickets near Neubrandenburg do not concern an isolated theater parking lot but rather the good integration of the house into the city center structure. The location in the historic old town and the proximity to other cultural and supply offerings make the visit uncomplicated, especially if some time is planned for before or after. Those who want to be sure should check the city’s parking overview again before departure and keep the P15 option in mind for short stops. History, Architecture, and Monument Character
The history of Schauspielhaus Neubrandenburg is a significant reason why the name is well-known far beyond the region. According to the cultural portal and the city of Neubrandenburg, the house was mentioned in 1787 as a new comedy house or inaugurated by Duke Adolph Friedrich IV of Mecklenburg-Strelitz through his court theater. The simple timber-framed building received its current exterior form in 1793/94. After that, tumultuous decades followed outside of theater operations: the building was used as a workshop, assembly hall for motorcycles, tailor shop, community hall, vulcanization workshop, and institution for movement cures, among other things. This varied use explains why the current theater character of the house seems so special. After exemplary renovation, the Schauspielhaus was reopened in 1994 and has since served as an atmospheric venue for drama, musical theater, readings, and concerts. The city describes it as one of the liveliest cultural venues in the city and emphasizes that the attached pub is considered one of the coziest meeting points in Neubrandenburg. The ensemble of the building is also remarkable: The house includes the Schauspielhaus itself, the glass connector as a foyer with café, and the Greve House, which today houses the visitor service and part of the administration. With around 200 seats, its historic stage, and its inclusion in the European Route of Historic Theaters, the house is not only a performance venue but also a cultural-historical monument. This is precisely why searches for photos, history, or special features work so well: the building has a strong visual identity that arises from timber framing, renovation, and current use. Those who want to experience cultural history will find here not just a program but a piece of grown city and theater history. Summer Spectacle, Family Program, and Special Evenings
The Schauspielhaus Neubrandenburg thrives not only on its history but especially on its changing program, which repeatedly brings forth special evenings. An important anchor is the Neubrandenburger Summer Spectacle: For 2026, Glorious! is announced as a summer format from May 29 to June 28, 2026, at the Schauspielhaus. The production tells the true story of Florence Foster Jenkins and combines comedy, music, and a strong stage figure into an evening that stands out significantly from classical repertoire titles. Additionally, productions like Romeo and Juliet, All My Men, or Before the Feast show how broad the drama offerings are. The audience thus finds not only classics but also contemporary themes, humorous forms, and literary adaptations. For families and young visitors, the house is also attractive: TOG highlights morning performances, school performances, and theater education with the Young Stage in the morning, including Romeo and Juliet in a youth-friendly format. The website also features projects like The Little Raven Sock, The Story of the Tree, or Bübchen's Christmas Dream, which show that the house regularly offers productions for children and families. The rehearsal stage also plays an important role; smaller formats and additional performances like Line 1 are held there. This mix explains why terms like summer spectacle, events, today, or photos are searched so frequently: the location is not a static place but a house with constantly changing faces. Those who follow the schedule attentively will discover new access points to musical theater, drama, and special evening formats at Schauspielhaus Neubrandenburg time and again. This makes the house an ideal destination for anyone seeking a culturally rich, atmospheric, and well-organized theater experience in Neubrandenburg.
